Hiking to a mountain village in Triglav National Park

Guided hiking tour to the village with 700-year cheese-making tradition and eco farms

Perched high above the famous Tolmin Gorges, this remote mountain village rewards hikers with breathtaking views across the Tolminka Valley all the way to Tolmin. Though off the beaten path, its story is deeply woven into the Soča Valley’s heritage. The village is home to a 700-year-old tradition of cheese-making—most famously the beloved Tolminc cheese. Here, eco-friendly farming is a way of life, and every cow has a name. You’ll meet welcoming locals, taste authentic organic food, and experience life at a gentler pace.

The hike takes you through the Tolminka Valley, along alpine pastures and into the heart of Triglav National Park. The setting is unforgettable—surrounded by the Julian Alps and echoing with unique stories from Slovenia’s history. Notable guests like the Swedish royal couple and a U.S. delegation led by the CIA director have made the journey. The road is so dramatic, some locals prefer not to drive it—but that just makes the destination even more special.

Your full-day adventure begins at the Tolmin Gorges and ends with a hearty farm lunch. Join us—some secrets of this mountain village can only be discovered on foot.
